When God Shows Up | A Grateful Heart

I am so happy that Emily from Ember Grey has decided to bring back her Grateful Heart linkup. Out of all the different linkups out there for bloggers to participate in, the GH has always had special meaning for me. I love reading through the differing posts about what each person is feeling grateful for. It could seem as important or mundane, but that’s the glory of God right there – it’s only up to us to see His blessings no matter how big or small they may seem. There’s something about starting your week off right (especially on those dreaded Mondays) with a grateful heart for life to be put into perspective.

Today my grateful heart does not lie within myself completely. It is the gratitude I have for being witness to His grace upon the people I love, which serves as a reminder that He is always with us and for us.

“Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.” Psalms 127:3

One // Within the last couple months I have been able to see two blogger friends become mothers in the same, but yet a very different way. I don’t know their complete stories and I wasn’t there through the heartache, tears, and the disappointment in trying to become a mom. However, I was able to see their faith grow stronger and their hearts grow larger through their struggling circumstances for God to then place baby boys into their arms. Please, check out Emily’s own journey to motherhood through adoption to which she just brought baby Crew home and Catherine from A Short Blonde as she navigated through infertility to then welcome baby Phoenix just a month ago. These are the stories that constantly show us that it is indeed His timing for all things, but yet there are many lessons and blessings along the way. Thank you ladies for sharing your stories with us!

Two // My own grateful heart lies within my church and the village we call home here at our apartment complex of all places. This weekend Greyson was dedicated at our church and afterwards we celebrated with a little BBQ get-together right in front of our home. Philip’s parents were able to plan a visit as well as Greyson’s godparents for this special weekend, both traveling from Texas and Colorado respectively. I know we are loved, but to see it in the eyes and hearts of those who surrounded us yesterday just brightens my soul.

A few people are thrown off by what a dedication is and it’s simply us presenting our son to God and to our church; to publicly say we are Christian parents, to commit our child to God and His purposes for his life, dedicate ourselves to raising him in the Christian faith, to live and lead him in a Christ-like way, and for Greyson to make that choice for himself once he is ready to become baptized as he accepts Christ into his heart. It welcomes our church and others to pray over him and us as parents and to have that sense of community is just makes me feel whole within my family.

My heart just overflows with gratitude not only for the many blessings in my life, but to also see Him working in the people around me near and far. During the service this past Sunday we had a guest speaker, Matt Massey, share a message about healing and I personally found it to be so powerful and much needed for the day considering my morning didn’t have the greatest of starts. If you have the time, I highly recommend checking it out below.

  • This is so, so sweet. Thank you for sharing in my joy, Kelly!!! “it’s only up to us to see His blessings no matter how big or small they may seem” – so true!!

    • Of course! I am just in awe of how you both have been blessed after some difficult seasons of waiting! Just a wonderful reminder to us all to be patient in His timing <3

  • Thanks, friend. It’s been a pretty joyous (and sleepy) month. 😉 I’m so glad you were able to have friends and family come in for Greyson’s dedication. I’m not sure we’ll do a dedication as we’ve hopped around a few different churches while living here.

    • Yes, yes – I remember being in somewhat of a haze those first few months 😉 His dedication was a great gathering of friends and having Philip’s parents and godparents be able to make it was perfect. It took us a little time to find our church, but it’s such a great feeling once you do! Hopefully you guys can find something that fits your spiritual needs where you live!
