Fall is easily my favorite season out of the entire year. Yes, call me basic as I wear the term with pride. I count down the days for Pumpkin Spice everything, breaking out my scarves, boots and sweaters, and begin appropriately decorating my home around September. It’s taken me some time to get used to the fact that central California doesn’t necessarily get a ‘fall’ like I’ve been used to all my life back in Virginia. There’s no changing colors of the leaves, the temperature tends to stay pretty mild at about 75 degrees (or sometimes warmer) in the afternoons and there’s not much in the way of pumpkin patches or other fun-filled fall activities I can drag my husband to. However, I do make the best of it by surrounding my home with the scents of the season and this year I plan to invest in proper fall decorations that can be easily stored for years to come. Because if I can’t make it feel like fall outside I’m damned determined to make it feel like fall inside.
So with that in mind, here are my favorite pins for getting your home ready for fall. Your husband will thank you for it.
1 // DIY Pumpkin Mason Jars via The 36th Avenue
These super adorable centerpieces, candy jars, or otherwise just adorable decorations can be easily made at home with just a few materials. Besides, who DOESN’T love a good use of a Mason jar? Not only do these make cute home decorations, for all my teacher bloggers out there they could also be a fun take-home project at the end of fall. Mason jars have all kinds of uses so it’s always helpful to have a few on hand. Don’t forget Christmas is just around the corner 😉
2 // Autumn Floral Centerpiece
Whether you’re hosting a dinner party with family or friends or just looking for a beautiful piece to tie all of your decorating together, this beautiful floral centerpiece is perfect for just that. Simply find a tall vase, fill with your favorite fall items (pumpkins like in the photo, leaves, or even candy corn) and decorate with fresh flowers and accents. Fresh is always the best in my opinion, but invest in fake autumn colored flowers so you can recreate this piece year after year.
3 // Autumn Wreath
No home is complete without a fabulous wreath that shares the excitement for the season. I love this autumn themed wreath with its colorful florals and the burlap bow is just the perfect touch. I’m not sure who is the original owner of this photo, but it’s absolutely beautiful. If you’re not too much of a Do-It-Yourselfer, Etsy is a great resource if you’re looking for handmade wreaths like this one.
4 // Trisha Yearwood’s Fresh Apple Cake with Caramel Glaze via The Recipe Link
What doesn’t scream fall like a fresh cake made from the season’s favorite fruit? This apple cake bunt looks absolutely delicious and that caramel glaze drizzle has my mouth watering. I can’t wait to try this recipe because, come on, Trisha knows a thing or two about good food.
5 // DIY Mantle Decor via Unknown
I fell in love with this idea the moment I saw it on Pinterest and again I wish I could find the original owner of this photo/idea! Create this simple, yet adorable, decor piece by fixing vinyl letters to tea lights or small vases. THANKS (as seen in the photo) is perfect for Thanksgiving, CHEERS for Christmas, and even a simple FALL for, well fall!
6 // Homemade Butter Beer via Jet-Setting Mom
This classic drink from your favorite book series/films can now be a reality in your home without a trip to Universal Studios. Or at least it comes pretty close. All you need to whip up this delicious and festive drink is cream soda, imitation butter flavor (apparently that’s a thing), heavy whipping cream, vanilla, and sugar. All components are homemade, which leaves this drink extra tasty!
