Warby Parker | Home Try-On

I first discovered Warby Parker when walking along Abbot Kinney Blvd in Venice last year. I noticed their shop, which is a hip blue building that’s pretty hard to miss, and thought to take a little peek considering I was in need of new frames. I loved how open their shop was and how friendly and knowledgable their staff was about the different frames. I tried a few on and ultimately found my favorite frame. After a quick eye exam I sent off my prescription and received my new glasses within a matter of a week. I wear my new frames all the time and couldn’t wait to return when deciding on prescription sunglasses.

I didn’t have a chance to make it back to their store, considering it’s about an hour or so out of the way from my home in Ventura, but luckily Warby Parker has a home try-on program where you can pick up to five frames (glasses or sunglasses) that will be shipped to you completely for free. This way you can try them on in the comfort of your own home and send them back after 5 days with their prepaid shipping label. If you find a pair you love, you just simply order them online!

I decided to try this program myself and chose five different frames ranging from my go-to styles to a few that I wouldn’t normally pick out for myself. I wanted to play around with the fun and different styles Warby Parker is known for.

I do need your help in deciding which frames look the best, though, so let’s take a peek.

Durand | Whiskey Tortoise

These Durand frames in the Whiskey Tortoise were my absolute favorite the moment I put them on (although I’m not the best model, haha). They sit comfortably on my nose, offer polarized lenses, and come in the same color as my regular glasses. I do love that these frames also come in Woodland Tortoise and Deep Sea Blue if I were looking for the same great frame, but in unique colors.

Definitely one I have my eye on, but what do you think?

Upshaw | Polished Gold

The Upshaw frames are my husband’s favorites on me. They resemble his Oliver Peoples sunglasses I bought him a couple of years ago and are perfect little aviators. They come in this Polished Gold or Jet Silver with blue lenses. I really enjoyed wearing these frames too, but I have a little conundrum about whether or not I should invest in another pair since I have aviators already. However, these would be prescription and a pair I would probably wear most frequently.

What do you think I should do?

Beckett | Jet Black Matte

You can probably tell from my face in this photo that the Beckett frames are my least favorite. Although they have the rectangular frame I like best, they just didn’t ‘wow’ me when I put them on. They’re sturdy like a pair of Ray Bans but I’m not terribly sad to be sending these back.

What do you think? Am I being too hard on Beckett?

Raglan | Pearled Tortoise

I chose the Raglan frame because it was a ‘staff pick’ on their website as well as I loved the pearl tortoise color. The frame itself is different from what I would normally pick out for myself but I found them fun to wear. This frame comes in a fun rose color called Himalayan Salt, which might  be another fun color to try next time.

Downing | Jet Black

These Downing frames are another ‘staff pick’ and I was surprised to see how much I liked them. I didn’t think I was going to because of the rounded frames (I typically look best in rectangular). I did like that these are very different from any other frame I’ve owned and liked the black color. This frame also comes in a Matte Black with gradient lenses and Walnut Tortoise, which are both pretty sharp colors.

How do you feel about these unexpected frames?

I am excited to pick out a new pair of sunglasses and I love how affordable Warby Parker makes it for me. They also make it insanely convenient to shop as well, which is a huge plus! This home try-on was a lot of fun and I’m curious to see which frames you all like best! Also, don’t take my word for it! Select your five frames for free today!
