Every year when we approach the holiday card season it almost always seems like a mad dash to book a photographer, coordinate the outfits, pick a location, take the actual photos, receive them, then order the cards to mail to family and friends. Heck, just to write that out is overwhelming!
But thankfully this year Minted has taken a lot of the hustle and anxiety out of the mix with their newest photo op session service! Now you can book a professional photographer through Minted where you can select everything from the style and vision of photos you’d like taken, the location, date, and time, as well as a hand selected set of holiday cards that will best feature your new photos. Oh, and you’ll receive 10 digital prints to use as you’d like! I mean, how awesomely convenient is that?!
For me, a SAHM who is on a continuous budget – especially for our yearly family photos – I was thankful that Minted has unveiled this new service!
– how it works –
Booking your independent professional photographer through Minted has never been easier with their online booking tool. Minted continues their mission to support independent artists and photographers and with this new service you’ll be able to browse a number of photographers that’ll be sure to capture some amazing photos of you or your family this year.
Simply decide whether you’d like to book just a photographer or Minted’s new Photo Op by Minted option. I personally loved the Photo Op choice because of what’s included in that package! Here’s what you get for a cool $100.
- 30 minute mini photo session with a professional photographer
- Free holiday card styling to best feature your new photos
- 10 expertly edited digital photos – available to download within 2-3 days!
- A stress free holiday!
– booking your photo op –
Minted walks you through the booking process like a breeze. You have complete control over what your photo session will look and feel like, which adds to the convenience of it all for me and my needs. After you select your location, date, and time you then get to work selecting what style and vision you have for your photos. You can choose from classic, portrait, or candid – among others. We personally love more casual and relaxed photos, especially highlighting Greyson and our pup Murphy, so we opted for their neighborhood stroll style. And to finish off the booking process we picked a couple of example holiday card styles that we liked best to give Minted an idea of what we were going for.
I’m telling you, easy-peasy!

Location, Location, Location
Since we always want to capture and share our California lifestyle, my husband and I spent some time discussing where we would like our photos to be taken. Because this is a brand new service for Minted, it’s unfortunately not available everywhere. Which meant we had to think about locations a bit closer to Los Angeles. We threw around the idea of Malibu, but considering it’s not really ‘us‘ we then thought about the Santa Monica Pier considering it’s a recognizable landmark. But, I was worried it may be too busy for family photos.
Then it dawned on me that one of our favorite places to visit while in the LA area has always been Abbot Kinney Blvd near Venice Beach. This corner of town has a more trendy and hipster vibe with an assortment of locations that would be fun to shoot at. With the street art and wall murals that decorate the shops, I thought it would be a fun shoot to capture this essence of California living as a young family. So, I booked us to meet at Aviator Nation!
The Photo Session
We loved working with our photographer Jennifer who was eager to capture the best photos for us! She met us right downtown and we got started on our session right away. I loved that she was so comfortable to work with and really understood the vibe of photos we were looking to create for our cards this year. Best of all, after our shoot our photos were ready to download within 3 days! Here’s a peek at some of the photos she snapped!
Stay tuned for our Christmas card reveal coming soon to the blog! I can’t wait to use these photos for our cards this year – so many great ones to choose from!
