It’s finally summer and although it can still be a little grey in the mornings the weather is catching up – lots of sunshine and something about a chilled rose sounds delicious. Who cares if it’s 9am?
Well, this month for our interview I decided to go in a more celebratory direction since summer is all about gathering, BBQs, pool time, and visits from family and friends! It’s all about good food, drinks, and creating memories. I am always so curious to see my husband’s responses to my questions and this month he didn’t disappoint! It’s so funny to see just how fancy he still is even though we live the more simple life out here at the beach and with our little one.
Onto the questions!
If you could have one last meal what would it be (or where would it be from)?
So much great food comes to mind! But since this is MY last meal, I’ll make it up how I would want it.
Let’s see: I’d start with escargot from L’Escargot Montorgueil in Paris, Beluga Caviar with all the accoutrements (toast, hardboiled egg whites and yolks served separately, red onion, and of course chilled vodka and champagne), fried chicken from Willie Mae’s Scotch House in New Orleans, a medium rare sirloin, grilled quail, and grilled artichoke from the Hitching Post in Casmalia with a bottle of bourbon. I’m not big on dessert, but if I had to pick, I’d probably say cheesecake from one of the famous delis in New York.
–quite the appetite he has! 😉
If you could pick one drink/beer/cocktail that embodies you, what would it be and why?
Two come to mind, but I’m going to go with 3 jiggers of bourbon over a large ice cube. It’s probably the drink I consume the most, but when I think about it, it does kind of embody me. It’s classic and simple, wise in its age but not pretentious, easily adaptable to all settings and locations, most people like it, it’s sweet but not too sweet, it tastes better the more you drink it, and it mixes well with other drinks.
If we could spend NYE and ring in the new year anywhere in the world (without any kids) where would we go? What makes that place come to mind?
I love really, really nice hotels and I love a good hotel bar. The place that immediately came to mind is the Shangri-La hotel in Singapore. I don’t know why. I’ve never been to Singapore. A good bottle of champagne is a must. Probably two. Most likely three. Low key, not too crazy but definitely memorable.
You are throwing a party and can invite whomever you wanted and for any occasion. What kind of party is it, who would be there, and how would you celebrate?
It’s funny how I’m not really for parties like I used to be, but it’d probably be for our close friends and family centered around an event like St. Paddy’s Day or Memorial Day. Good drinks, good food, and sunshine.
If you could throw a party or have a party thrown for you (for any occasion) which would you choose? Why?
