It’s officially summer and it’s a Friday – finally.
We’re still unpacking and getting our new home to feel a little less like an apartment and more like our home. I’ve put a lot of work into doing all the decorating I wish I could have done in our last apartment like putting up window coverings, our own bathroom fixtures, and finally installing some stick-on backsplash in the kitchen. I can’t wait until our home is perfect enough to shoot and share with you all, but until then I’m always happy to share a few snapshots.
This week has also been one in which Grey wants to test every boundary with me. Can I say that my kid annoys me sometimes? Well, it’s a fleeting thought because all I have to do is look at him being randomly precious and it all melts away. Funny how that works. Currently, his favorite movie on Netflix is Trolls and it completely calms him and if we’re being honest, I kind of love this movie too. It helps me get things done – like writing this post – and have a little moment to regroup. Yeah, so I’m that mom that let’s my son watch a movie/TV…#judgeme.
One | My handy helper
Starting a new small business, my Etsy shop, while being home with Greyson has proven to be quite the undertaking. I already manage this blog, my online teacher shop, and now navigating something new with Etsy on top of my other responsibilities at home
Two | Pin to Present
I have been pinning things for a while now and since we moved in I have been happily moving along from room to room and trying out a few Pinterest projects. One that I was most excited for is Greyson’s room. I had pinned this mural as an inspiration for his room, which I wanted to keep in tune with the woodland theme we’ve always had but a little more mature now that Grey is growing up. Another fun aspect to this mural is that it represents the mountains that we have lining our back view.
Three | Swim, swim, swim
The pool. The place you’ll find us all summer long.
When we moved here almost three years ago I loved going to the pool. I loved living somewhere that actually had a pool (and heated) and when I was pregnant the pool was a huge help in those final months/weeks before delivering. Now, Grey loves swimming which has us on the lookout for more pool and water toys. Do you have any pool favorites or must-haves for the kiddos?
Four | Summertime grub
One of the best things about summer for me is the food! We’ve been grilling a lot more since the weather has warmed up and going out and eating on a patio of our favorite restaurants downtown is another plus for the season. These charbroiled oysters from Lure is a must-order every time we go. Pair this with their chilled cucumber martini…mmmm.
Five | “Every summer, like the roses, childhood returns.”
Kind of my favorite quote at the moment because there’s something about summer that makes me feel all nostalgic. It’s also a print I just made the other day and in celebration of the summer solstice I am throwing a 15% OFF sale over at my shop Little Fox Lettering Co. on all handmade prints and instant downloads. I love putting orders together knowing that my prints are going off to someone’s home! Such an amazing way to make connections and each order encourages me to keep going and growing my small business.
Happy weekend everyone!
