Happy Friday everyone – and look at me jumping back on here and finally linking up again! I swear it’s been a few weeks since I’ve been able to get a Friday Favorites post on the blog and I finally did it thanks to #momlife. Between nursing a sick toddler to my husband being away on work to San Francisco, it’s been just a busy week. Today my kiddos at school have a field trip, which should be fun (but I always dread a field trip on a Friday), so I’m hoping for a fun, but quick, afternoon.
So, without any further adieu here are a few of my favorites from this week!
One | how to show love on the creatives you love
One of my favorite blogs to read and catch up on is Oak & Oats and one of her most recent posts discusses all the ways in which we can all give love to our favorite bloggers, artists, and writers that goes beyond a simple ‘like’ on Facebook.
it can easily feel like a fight to be seen but I wonder if in that rush to share, get likes, have our posts go viral, etc… we are missing the point. We have to stop looking at each other as competitors and see each other as friends. Her successes does not equate to my failure, in fact it can be the opposite. A rising tide lifts all boats. When we work together, support each other, and encourage each other we can beat the algorithm blues together.“
So, this week, and taking into next week, is being more aware of how I can support my fellows out there who are working hard to provide great content. How can you support your favorite blogger or creative this week?
Two | why you need this beauty brand in your cosmetic bag N.O.W.
It’s no secret that Beautycounter has quickly become one of my favorite skincare and makeup brands since BareMinerals. Now that I’m coming to the end of my mineral makeup it’s time to invest and make the switch to Beautycounter full time. One of the biggest eye openers to me was just how many chemicals and other toxic ingredients that are allowed to be processed in the very products we put on our skin – and thus into our bodies. Since switching to their face wash and charcoal bar my skin has never been more radiant and I can feel good about making a healthier choice when it comes to protecting my skin.
Three | these 7 easy ways to try minimalism without parting ways with your stuff
Having gone ‘minimalist’ over the last few years – thanks much in part to my husband already living this way – it’s made me more confident to share with others tips and tricks to how we live so that we can enjoy life the way we have. And one misconception people tend to lean towards is that you have to pitch everything in your home or closet or somehow have less stuff. This is a great article on how you can start small with 7 easy ways to implement minimalism into your life without the stress of an episode of Hoarders when the therapists throw out your treasured stack of Bed Bath and Beyond coupons.
Four | this recipe for meatless burrito goodness
Gimme Some Oven has always been a longtime favorite food blog of mine because she offers all different cuisines to try that are packed with flavor. This week, this recipe caught my eye and I couldn’t be more excited to try it sometime! I love finding new ways to make tacos using a filling that doesn’t always have to be meat – it’s all about the flavor! And for any dipping sauce with a mayo base – I love Veganaise and their line of mayo because it tastes exactly like the real thing without the yucky stuff like cholesterol.
Five | how I’ve officially gone trendy with these trendy breakfast bowls
And lastly, I am completely going #basic on this one and sharing just how much I love açaí bowls/smoothies in the morning. All I have to do is throw everything into a blender, add some coconut shavings, granola, and vegan chocolate chips and got an instant breakfast on the go! I love playing around with the different goodies I add to my smoothies and getting those frozen açaí packets from Costco is money and gives me açaí for the entire month! Have you jumped on this berry bandwagon? What are your favorite bowl combinations?
I wish you all a super happy weekend!
