This week Greyson has decided to go full blown terrible twos on me. Either that or he seriously can’t decide when he’s happy or Hulk Smash angry. I was prepared that as he becomes more independent and conscious of his surroundings it would bring on a new chapter in our parenting and specifically discipline. I just didn’t expect all that he’s throwing at me at the moment and most days I’m exhausted before noon. However, when he finally calms down and reaches his arms high to snuggle into me, I talk with him – tell him I love him – and when he smiles those earlier frustrations just seem melt away. Damn you, Greyson. Mommy loves you so!
As much as it’s been a tough week with Grey, my heart continues to feel for what happened in Charlottesville. You can read my post from earlier this week, but with Barcelona and the other horrific things going on in this world I just can’t seem to recover emotionally. What’s going on these days?
One | 5 Ways to Turn a Bad Day Around
Neely, from It Starts with Coffee, really managed to speak to me this week with her post on how to turn bad days around. We all have them and they’re sparked by a multitude of things. But her post helped me think about what I could do to turn a bad day around – especially with my difficulty with Greyson. For me, it’s mostly about taking a break whether it’s talking it out with my husband, going for a walk, or watching something fun on T.V. And happy hour doesn’t hurt either.
Two | Collaboration vs Competition
This past week in my shop I have had the wonderful opportunity to partner with a couple of different creatives and source new handmade products into the shop! I am always in awe of the creativity that I see in others and am encouraged by their success as small business owners. I now offer an assortment of handlettered paper goods, custom stamps, nursery banners, and even shirts. I hope you have a chance to check it out and find something fun!
Three | Disappointments as a Blogger
This week as I made my return back on here I had to begin by venting a little bit and what influenced my break from blogging. I became frustrated with what I had been seeing and laid it all out there.
Four | Thug Kitchen’s Roasted Beer and Lime Cauliflower Tacos
Since returning from visiting our friends for a week in Las Vegas I wanted to kind of detox. Although we continued to eat fairly well, I needed a break and what better way to do that than to go vegan for the week. One recipe in particular we loved was from our Thug Kitchen cookbook. We paired our tacos with their recipes for a cilantro lime slaw and fire-roasted salsa and boy was it delicious! I couldn’t recommend this cookbook enough!
Five | A Gallery Wall
One project I’ve had on my mind for a while was our gallery wall on the landing of our stairs. I wanted to get these photos out from our moving boxes and finally displayed. So when we were in Vegas I went to Ikea and found these awesome square frames that were perfect for the space. I’ll be posting soon about the final look so keep an eye out for that!
