Scenes From Our Weekend | vol 4

What a beautiful weekend it was – but, boy was it busy! My heart is so full of gratitude and joy that I’m not sure how others will compare…that is until Christmas! Greyson had so much fun getting to try new foods and visit with friends both here at home and up in Los Olivos when Philip helped out at the tasting room. We experienced a refreshing rain, stayed full with plenty of Thanksgiving leftovers, and I’ve stayed busy with my cup of coffee and Gilmore Girls on repeat. Here are a few scenes from my weekend…

Gilmore Girls

This weekend has been full of a lot of fun giveaways here on the blog. First, there’s my collaboration with a few of my favorite bloggers who have come together to celebrate the revival of Gilmore Girls! I had never grown up watching the show, but now that the complete series is on Netflix I’ve been streaming it all weekend. So, if you’re like me who is only falling in love with these characters for the first time (or you just like some fun goodies) or you’ve been watching since the beginning, check out the giveaway here and be sure to enter before Thursday!

New Bangs!

Scenes From Our Weekend | vol 4 | theprimarilyinspired.com |

Bangs and I go way back – like, to early 90s childhood days – and I’ve been rocking a variation of them ever since. I’ve done the side-swept for ages and finally after since becoming pregnant with Greyson I grew them out. For a time I really loved not having some extra hair in my face and how easy it was to pull my hair back, but there was a part of me that missed them. I always go back and forth as to what to do with my hair and so one day I stood in the bathroom with scissors in hand and make the cut. They’re not salon perfect, but gave me the change I needed and I’ve loved having them again. So…what do you guys think?!

Thanksgiving 2016

Scenes From Our Weekend | vol 4 | theprimarilyinspired.com |

I was so excited to host a little Friendsgiving this year and celebrate Greyson’s first Thanksgiving with our friends. I could finally break out a few more wine glasses from our wedding registry box and pull together a cute tablescape thanks to inspiration from Pinterest. It was a pleasure to serve our friends and we can’t wait to do it again next year!

California Rain

Rain is not something that us Californians get to experience that often, but when we do it’s beautiful. On Saturday as we were driving up to Los Olivos the most beautiful rainbow popped out and I tried my hardest to capture it (even while my husband was driving). So although it doesn’t truly capture it I’m happy with my little rainbow video. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did seeing it!

Our Christmas Card Unveiled + GIVEAWAY | 2016

Our Christmas Card Unveiled + GIVEAWAY | 2016 | theprimarilyinspired.com|

Sending Christmas cards is one of my all-time favorite holiday traditions (see last years). It was even more-so once Philip and I got married two years ago. Every year since I’ve planned and prepared a number of seasonal activities and movies to help get us into the Christmas spirit. From making a list of our favorite Christmas movies, going ice skating (pre-baby), to constructing a gingerbread house, we go all out during the holidays and this year it’s even more special. Greyson adds a level of excitement to this year’s festivities and although he may be too tiny to really know what’s going on, it’s our duty to document it so that these memories live on. One tradition that is slightly new this year was getting professional photographs taken of our family to use for our cards. I figured it was time to invest in quality family photos (especially wrangling an eight month old and our Murphy-dog). I am so glad that we made that investment because the photos and cards turned out beautifully!

Once we received our photos I couldn’t wait to start creating the cards we’d send to our family and friends this year. This years card is especially important because it is Greyson’s first holiday season! Thankfully Minted provided us this opportunity to share with all of you just how great their 2016 holiday card collection really is! So, let the unveiling begin!

Card: Cheers For The New Year

When it comes to our Christmas cards we typically go for a simple design. This year we wanted our photos to be the focus, with a specific focus on our family as a whole and our Greyson baby. In keeping with the woodland theme we also wanted to extend that feeling with a card that encompassed more earthy-tones versus the vibrant colors associated with the holidays.

One of my favorite features that Minted offers is their ‘find it fast option where you can place your own photo and watch as it is placed into Minted’s vast selection of holiday cards! It truly makes the decision making so much easier, and faster too, since there are hundreds of cards to sift through.

Another great feature that makes Minted stand out amongst the rest? Their FREE recipient address printing! OMG the days of having to handwrite each recipient name and address are long gone for the Daniel house and I am grateful. Minted offers a number of styles that you can choose to match your card theme or opt for a different design. Personally, I went with the address printing that matched my theme but to each their own!

In addition to my free address printing I selected their wrap return address stickers which are always a favorite of mine and worth the extra dollars. It makes addressing my cards so much easier and while we are living in our apartment (of which we’re moving in the spring) stickers, versus a stamp, is the way to go. But no worries! Minted also offers return address printing too as an add-on.

One of the questions that many girls growing up in the early 2000s can ask themselves is, where were you when Gilmore girls first aired? Unfortunately I cannot answer that question, well not until a few weeks ago that is, because I never watched the show. Insert wide eyes and a shriek here. I know, I know. I’m one of the few girls out there that didn’t really get on the CW bandwagon growing up although I’ve heard great things about the show. I guess the whole ‘mother-daughter being best friends’ relationship thing didn’t really peak my interest and neither did the goody-goodeyness of the whole show. Instead I opted for shows like FRIENDS, Seinfeld, The Office, and the ridiculous South Park. I never knew what I was really missing out on…

…until Netflix and the kind soul, Janelle, over at Simply Love.

Back a few months ago I remember hearing about the Gilmore girls revival and seeing a number of friends, and blogging friends, sharing their excitement across social media. I never quite understood what the commotion was about seeing as though I had no idea what the references were or the complex relationships that played out over seven seasons. Thanks to Netflix and countless hours throughout the day with Greyson, I have been able to catch up on seven years worth of memories and reminiscing about being a young teen myself navigating high school, responsibilities, and relationships. I think I’m able to appreciate this show much more as an adult than if I were to have originally watched it growing up. BTW, I believe Lorelai Gilmore was ahead of her time! So witty and funny!

I am only within the first three seasons yet I find myself totally wrapped in Lorelai’s relationship with Luke. I mean, they do end up together in the end, right?! How is it that these two waif-like women can eat, let alone afford, Luke’s everyday for multiple meals a day? And I’m quite impressed that a teenager drinks her coffee black. I still have to use cream and sugar! Perhaps it’s the perks of living in a small town where everyone, and literally everyone, knows you. Nonetheless, it’s a town that I find myself wanting to live in, to raise my family there, and for 45 minutes (at least) I can.

So, in celebration of our grand return to Stars Hollow and greeting our favorite characters once again for this epic four-episode run, me and my fellow blogger friends are hosting a pretty amazing giveaway! Grab your Luke’s coffee and a donut (or three), your comfiest sweater, blast the revival on your TV, and join all of us for a giveaway thanks to Janelle and my lovely other hosts!

Thankfulness | 2016

Thankfulness 2016 | theprimarilyinspired.com |

Today is our very first Thanksgiving that we are hosting and although we are apart from family and our friends back on the east coast, we are nonetheless thankful. Besides, I get to finally break out our wedding wine glasses two years later as we get the opportunity to host a little Friendsgiving of our own. This year is especially important for our little family because of Greyson. It is him that we are truly thankful for!

In the spirit of preparing this years feast I had a lot of fun setting the table! Here are a few scenes from our Thanksgiving this year with more to come on Instagram

I snipped fresh rosemary and used twine to tie the place cards. The little bit of color really adds a special touch. I loved finding things around the house that I already had to use for the tablescape. Pinterest doesn’t hurt either 😉

I’ll be behind the camera this year while the husband is in the kitchen. I wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving and prayers for safe travels for those who are visiting family away from home! There’s so much to be thankful for this year in our family and I praise God for the many blessings we have had the joy of experiencing. Cheers to friends, family, a lot of food, and football!

Love, Kelly
