Greyson James: 2 Month Update

This month has been full of fun things – especially now that we are able to take him outside the home. My husband and I have begun to get back into our social routine and learning new things along the way as new parents with an infant in public. For example, not all bathrooms have a changing table (and those that do I don’t know if I’d want my baby on it – but I have gotten pretty good at changing his diaper while he’s still seated in his car seat!), always have a bottle ready or be prepared to nurse in public, and invest in a good carrier like a Baby Bjorn or wrap since it helps little ones drift off to sleep. I’ve been so thankful that others are so understanding and even impressed we’re continuing our lives (ahem…happy hour anyone?) even with a newborn. It’s important for my husband and I to enjoy these little moments doing what we love and finding a way to make Greyson a part of it – it just takes some extra planning and preparedness.

getty.001Also this month we ventured out to LA and got to visit The Getty Museum which has been on my California bucket list since we moved here almost 2 years ago. I really enjoyed the whole trip especially since Greyson just loved walking around the gardens and looking at all the flowers and trees. He loved it so much he was knocked out sleeping by the time we got inside to walk around the galleries! This is a very exciting time for me as a mom because I get to be witness to the world just opening up for him and I love the way he smiles when he sees something new. Plus Daddy was a trooper and carried him the whole time!

So here’s to what he’s up to this month…

2 month.001Date: May 10, 2016
Weight: 14 lbs 15 oz.

Celebrated: Mommy’s first Mother’s Day and sleeping through the night for the first time!

Went: wine tasting with Mommy & Daddy in Santa Barbara and Los Olivos and visited The Getty Museum in LA!

Can: reach and grasp for things, hold my head up strongly, and smile (oh, the smiles!).

Enjoys: sucking on my fingers (and my Wubanub!), listening to Mommy talk and read to me, and dancing with Daddy. I also like warm baths and playing on my floor gym.

Hates: being put down – I want to be up and looking around especially at all the colors of outside! I also hate being put into my carseat or car rides when we come to a stop light.

Learning: to self-soothe and become very vocal (I loves to babble!).

Celebrating: I am currently celebrating the fact that I’ve survived motherhood and heading into 2 months with our little guy. It’s surreal how fast time seems to go and it’s difficult to think about a time when I didn’t have Greyson in our lives (look for his 2 month update next week!).

I’m also celebrating 2 lbs lost in 3 days (most likely water weight) since starting the 15 Day Fit Mommy Challenge! I just began this fitness/meal plan program (it’s completely FREE) and although I sometimes don’t feel like working out, I feel so much better and stronger afterwards and it’s an amazing feeling to see the scale dip just a little bit lower. Makes all of those horrible mountain climbers and planks worth it. Besides I love that it’s a program for the new mom in mind and helps me get back into pre-baby shape.

Reading: I wish I could say that I could find the time to sit down with a good book and I look forward to the day. Currently the only time I have to myself to read anything are blogs! Bloglovin’ has made it really easy for me to keep up with everyone even though I haven’t had the time to write very many posts myself.

Since I haven’t been able to get on the blog very much be sure to keep up with me on Instagram or Facebook!

Pondering: This month I am pondering how I can increase my payout goal for my Teachers Pay Teachers shop. Since becoming a mom (and a stay-at-home-mom at that) the only income I earn is from creating teaching resources and listing them in my TpT shop and sharing them on my teaching blog. I love creating and sharing resources that other teachers can use and incorporate into their classrooms, which in turn helps me provide for my family in a small way.

Sipping: Although coffee isn’t technically on my meal plan for these next 15 days, I have to have my daily cup in order to survive the day with my little guy. I’ve switched up my creamer with Trader Joe’s coconut creamer which is only 5 calories and allows me to enjoy my coffee the way I like it.

Going: Crazy! Just kidding…but really, though. 😉

I’m excited that this Friday my husband is able to take off from work to take the baby and I to visit the Getty Museum in L.A., which is something I’ve always wanted to do since moving to California (that and visiting the Griffith Observatory). Since our move we haven’t really had the chance to do my whole touristy thing so I am really looking forward to our little day trip…and getting out of the house for a change.
